The DNR order acts in the same way as the LCP. It sees the glass
half empty instead of the glass half full.
“Inappropriate use of the DNR orders could result in the refusal
of treatment for patients whose lives could significantly benefit from
resuscitation.”
In the case of Doreen Williams, her daughter, Karen, says she
feels an injustice has been done.
The doctors’ union stood firmly behind their man, Dr. Tariq
Rahman, and ruled there was no malpractice or incompetence involved.
The coroner ruled that there had been failures in Mrs. Williams’ care. If
action had been taken, there would have been a 50% chance of recovery.
But the glass was seen 50% empty…
