And for whom doth the bell toll? It tolls for thee...
First, Dave Cameron installed Don
Berwick as a guiding tsar to the NHS.
What, that Don Berwick, running for governorship for Massachusetts, Medicare Director under the Obama administration, cohort of Ezekiel "Zeke" Emanuel, promoter of Communitarian Healthcare, delaying or denying access to medical interventions if you're at the tail-end of the Communitarian profile?
So, we get saddled with Blair's side-kick.
What does this mean...?
Right...?
ensure that quality health care
is accessible to all Americans,
and that it is affordable and sustainable - not a
burden to future generations.
Stevens is set to take over in April next year.
This does not bode well.

Now, Jerry Hunt has installed Simon Stevens as the new CEO of NHS England
What, that Simon Stevens, Senior Exec. of United Health, former policy adviser on health under the Blair administration, Chief Exec. UHC Medicare and Retirement, President UH Europe, Nuffield Trust Trustee, Commonwealth Fund Board Member, ex-Board Member Medicare Rights Center, ex-Trustee The King's Fund, one-time Brixton Councillor...?
Yes, that Simon Stevens.

What does this mean...?
Simon Stevens, said the U.S. could save more than half a trillion dollars over a decade by changing how it cares for patients on those government health plans, which provide coverage for the elderly, disabled, and low income.

"Affordable, sustainable..." That sounds remarkably
like what's being said here about the NHS. One of United Health's 'six priority
areas' is -
Modernizing Medicare. Improving chronic disease management and end-of-life care. What does that mean exactly...? Helping people into palliative rather than curative care options? Recognising death and dying as positive life options in place of 'futile' interventions?

No man is an iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee...
