All law is open to misinterpretation and misappropriation. In determining something as intangible and nebulous as 'best interests' it may be hijacked to serve interests both particular and ulterior.
Earlier this year, Mail Online reported –
A mother has told how social workers turned up while she was giving birth in hospital to say they would be taking her baby into care.Without consulting her, social services chiefs had decided Kelly McWilliams was unfit to look after her baby because she had suffered from depression five years earlier after her ten-year-old son was found hanged.
The officials arrived without warning to say the baby would go straight into foster care as they were concerned about Mrs McWilliams’s mental health.
In September, Mail Online reported a similar 'best interests' case of a 6 hour old baby snatched from his mother's arms by British police acting under order of the courts –
In June the baby's father was given a suspended six-week prison sentence by a family court judge for his refusal to co-operate in getting the video removed from internet sites.
The parents said social workers removed their baby because they decided their mother was incapable of bringing them up because of her learning disability. The full video, available on You Tube, is here -
The video shows the father holding the newborn infant at their home when social workers and police come to take it away.
In the video, the mother is clearly distraught and holds onto her baby and rocks it as her husband remonstrates with officers and council staff.

The Select Committee Inquiry into the Mental Capacity Act 2005 last month published the unrevised transcript of evidence taken before it.
Mark Neary has given evidence before it; the case of David James was given brief, if scant, mention in it. Meanwhile, the abuse and misuse of the awful power this Act grants continues...
Today, in the Metro, it is reported that an unborn child has been stolen from her mother. The alarming thing is that doctors, medical professionals, actually agreed to perpetrate an assault upon their patient.

The power of the State is clearly overstepping its mark and must itself be subdued else this free land shall no longer be free. For what did my father fight 70 years ago; that this land shall itself be subject to such tyranny?
What we are seeing in this land is an unacceptable assault upon our hard-won freedoms. All manner of wrong is being done to serve 'best interest' and the greater good. If liberty and justice are to be served this must cease!
