This is being done now to my mother in law Hilda Taylor in Oldham Royal (09/09/2012). We are desparately trying to stop it.Euthanesia is not legal in this country. The NHS is not above the law. No one should die by starvation or dehydration. You wouldn't do it to a dog - you'd get prosecuted by the RSPCA.

the lcp method is a way of persecuting the weakest and most vulnerable of our society.My 83 year old, coherent, painfree mother has just been finished off at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield by this method. It was callous and inhumane to see, we were not even consulted.

I'm afraid it's no good medical people telling us that they wouldn't put patients on the LCP without consultation because it's patently obvious that they do. How can someone die with dignity when they are having all nutrients and fluids withdrawn, if a healthy person doesn't have water he will die in about 2 weeks and it wont be with dignity. The medical profession should hang its head in shame, even if it's a government authorised proceedure they should protest that it is against all they're supposed to represent. After all it's no good saying I was only obeying orders when you are causing people to die in pain and without any dignity whatsoever.

You can tell a lot about a society by the way it treats its old people, the very young and the very sick. I was born very sick and one day I'll die, hopefully when I'm very old.Hopefully the same spirit of humanity and compassion that welcomed me into the world will see me out of it and into the next. Please all sign , my father has just died on lcp, we were not informed at all that he was on this programe . We were told he had hours to live , he lasted 8 days . Im devasted and i feel so guilty . we were led to beleve was best for him . Was not so . This must stop . ITS MURDER .

Please do not let your loved ones go on the lcp,it is wrong in so many ways. My dad died on this lcp,they never even give him a chance to recover,they stop water going into your body,take you off the meds and give you so much morphine,there is no way to see signs of progress. This sounds horrible but its the goverments way of getting people to die faster and clear up hospital bed space. If i could turn back time i would never allow my dad to go on this. My dads words when he died was. "they are animals"

It is not scientifically possible to diagnose impending death as the LCP purports to do. The LCP is instead an assessment of the perceived quality of life of the patient by the medical team and as such is euthanasia.

My mother was killed on the liverpool care plan at the james paget hospital she was given two days to drink before they removed the drip it was later found that her false teeth had been stuck together because of a paste like food they had given her and she could not open her mouth to drink she had recieved no mouth care.Who gives the nhs the right to play god

i think i may well have been on this list, after my total hip replacement, i came round ok, but a mor driver was put in me,my face swelled my breathing became irratic, after 2 days i woke & asked why i hadnt got out of bed, i was then given oramorph,luckily my family became concerned as my water was removed.. i am 55 yrs old

depriving someone of hydration and nutrition and filling them up with sedatives is little more than more than murder especially when the relatives of the person concern have stated that they do not wish their nearest and dearest to be place on the 'Liverpool care pathway'

MY FATHER TOOK 8 DAYS TO DIE , I FEEL I LET HIM DOWN IN HIS TIME OF NEED , WE WERE NEVER TOLD OF PATHWYS , WHEN WE FOUND OUT, IT WAS NOT BEST FOR HIM IT WAS TO LATE . TERRIBLE DEATH HE WAS TALKING AND SWALLOWING , UNTIL THE MORPHINE HIT . HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN . MURDER , AND IM NOW IN HELL ALL I SEE IS HIS FACE , AND HIM ASKING TO GET OUT OF BED . sister died 23rd nov after being on LCP
12 days. 5 weeks before had been for a scan the report stated
- a lively happy 82 yr old with a grade B
cancer in cervix would benefit from Radiotherpy. Have a meeting with hospital
and need some professional help.




So many many things went wrong after
that, and after being admitted to hospital
with a kidney infection told she now had secondaries (even though) no tests been done -a put on LCP most horrific death.

I am 63, with COPD and an herniated disk. I have just about accepted that the NHS is delaying treatment for me, probably in the hope I either die or reach 65 when they can say I am too old for my treatment to be "worth it". But I do object to the fact I could be taken to hospital, then legally starved and killed in this way. If I wanted to die then just "leave me the tablets" and allow me to take them when I am ready. So I can dewcide and not by someone who thinks I am "just past it".

My family contribute many hours of medical knowledge to the NHS in teaching staff and patients how to see, self treat and to the management to save money in administration to save lives not for some idiot to misdiagnose and terminate life.

There are people who are judicially executed in the United States by lethal injection, whatever one may think of that, it is a fact, their death is by far more pleasant than this barbaric practice in NHS hospitals called 'the pathway'.

LCP is recommended for use in the last 72 hours of life. That is a recommendation based upon prognosis. BUT, as we all know that doctors are poor at prognosis. A decision that someone is dying in the next 72 hours may well not be reliable.

my, wifes mother suffered the in the same way 20 yrs ago, starvation. and now my wife has just been treated the same barbaric way but with a name to it, the liverpool care pathway. my wife was eating and drinking, when she went in. and speaking. she was then sedated. and it commotised her . she didnt stand a chance with the x in the box criteria. im suing the n h s .it should be abolished . as with hanging. my wifes funeral is this friday. i am gutted, and annoyed. everone speak up and be heard

Stop nazifying the NHS - this doesn't happen with private medicine. Just had my father removed from Pathways after nurse tried to avoid informing us that the Liverpool Death Path Way was being instigated. My father has sepsis not terminal cancer
